Human Resources Roadmap: Understanding the Basic Elements of HR is an HR program specifically designed for business owners and those new to HR including administrative and office management professionals that are their company’s employee point of contact. Overview: This workshop is intended to provide best practices, policies, and procedures regarding Human Resource functions for New York State employers. This workshop will assist employers in remaining compliant with current legal regulations while creating and sustaining productive employee relationships.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the types of employee classifications, the requirements to determine whether an employee is exempt or non-exempt and when someone should be classified as an employee or an independent contractor.
- Understand the elements and best practices of a Compensation and Benefits program which attracts and retains top talent while also meeting Federal and New York state guidelines.
- Understand the elements of a recruitment and selection process that aligns with the strategic needs of the organization and is compliant with Federal and New York state guidelines.
- Develop on-boarding policies, procedures, and training to begin professional, productive employee relationships in compliance with Federal and New York state guidelines.
- Understand effective ways to manage employee performance to achieve optimal results while fostering growth and development.
- Understand policies that are required to be included in an employee handbook and those that protect the employer. Understand how to add value by using the employee handbook as a management tool.
- Understand the components to end employment relationships in a professional and compliant manner while protecting business assets.
