Celebrating Excellence: Christine Honored in LIBN’s Women-Owned Business Feature
Compass Workforce Solutions, LLC
Compass Workforce Solutions, a certified WBE (women’s business enterprise), is a human resources consulting firm serving entrepreneurial businesses and organizations. The 15-year-old company has 13 employees and is 100% women-owned.
Compass was founded by Principal Christine Ippolito, after she left a Fortune 250 executive vice president position to relocate to Long Island and get married in her early 40s. “The business that began as a job for myself with financial income and flexibility soon became a business that was a lifeline and provided me with the confidence, courage, cash and capability to leave my husband when his behavior became abusive,” she said. “For me, my business represents freedom, flexibility and financial independence and the ability to support and mentor women in finding the same.”
Ippolito actively seeks out other women to be her business advisors; for example, her certified public accountant, financial advisor, bookkeeping service, attorney and entrepreneur advisory group are all women-owned businesses. Compass provides its employees with work-hour flexibility, hybrid work and part-time opportunities. “We recruit from The Mom Project (which helps companies hire moms). We provide paid internships in HR three times a year, and we also provide 100% scholarships to our HR Roadmap course for victims of domestic violence and veterans,” she said.
Ippolito is proud of “creating a high-performing team of diverse HR rockstars across five generations and a work environment where everyone’s opinions, ideas and contributions are highly valued,” she said. “Supporting our client’s growth and success by solving some of their most challenging people issues is always highly rewarding.”
